Hands-On Surgery Videos

See hands-on surgery filmed live at a recent ADE Seminars course.

Course Objective

This two-day hands-on course includes lecture, discussion, videos of periodontal soft and hard tissue procedures followed by hands-on training with freshly frozen cadavers. This lecture provides an overview of pertinent head and neck anatomy, biology of healing, surgical closure, advanced soft tissue surgical techniques for restoring three dimensional soft tissue topography and sculpting gingival tissues to enhance patients' smiles. These procedures are taught with unique and clinician proven step-by-step teaching procedural surgical guides.

Upon completion of this course the participant should be able to:

  1. Describe and understand pertinent anatomy and vital anatomic structures encountered during soft and hard tissue periodontal surgery.
  2. Describe how to perform an esthetic periodontal evaluation with emphasis on total hard and soft tissue management especially as it relates to the placement of dental implants.
  3. Describe the importance of soft tissue management and the biological basis for attached keratinized tissues at the soft tissue implant interface and around conventional prosthetic gingival interfaces.
  4. Be able to evaluate the soft tissue environment and three dimensional soft tissue topography prior to implant surgery and be able to apply appropriate surgical techniques to augment soft tissue.
  5. Describe the use of PRP to enhance results with soft tissue grafting.
  6. Describe what a frenum is and why and when it should be removed when performing orthodontic, dental implant or conventional fixed prosthetic therapy.
  7. Understand when and how to apply specific soft tissue surgical techniques in the management of the edentulous and partially edentulous patient with an emphasis on gingival smile line and prosthetic excellence.
